WASHINGTON — An Upper Marlboro man was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison after prosecutors reported he repeatedly sold fentanyl to an undercover officer in Northeast Washington and kept drugs inside a home where his young children were present.
Fredrick Crawford, 33, also known as “Playboy,” was sentenced Thursday, June 18, 2026, in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
Crawford pleaded guilty Feb. 20 before U.S. District Judge Amit P. Mehta to unlawful distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
Mehta also ordered Crawford to serve 48 months of supervised release. Federal prosecutors had requested a 78-month prison term.
According to court documents, Crawford began selling fentanyl to an undercover officer in April 2025 from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 2400 block of Market Street NE.
Between April and August 2025, Crawford completed six fentanyl transactions totaling about 278 grams, with an estimated value of about $15,000. Four of the transactions involved 40 grams or more of fentanyl, prosecutors reported.
By September 2025, Crawford was negotiating a much larger deal with the undercover officer for a half kilogram of fentanyl for $17,500.
Federal agents executed a search warrant Oct. 1, 2025, at Crawford’s Upper Marlboro residence, which prosecutors described as a stash location.
During the search, officers recovered more than $10,000 in cash, ammunition in multiple calibers, a drum magazine loaded with 40 rounds and distribution quantities of five drugs, including fentanyl, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana and promethazine.
Investigators also reported finding a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine in a dresser with drug packaging materials, a digital scale, cutting agent and additional promethazine.
About 21 grams of crack cocaine in loose rock form was recovered from a basement toilet, which prosecutors described as consistent with an attempt to destroy evidence.
Crawford’s two young children, both under 10, were in the basement at the time of the search, according to prosecutors.
“Crawford sold fentanyl, one of the deadliest substances on earth,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated. “He did it a half-dozen times with an undercover officer and was negotiating a seventh deal for half a kilo more.”
Pirro stated Crawford was “stashing his poison in the same home where his young children slept.”
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Field Office.
