Prince Frederick, MD – Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans (pictured, right) went on social media Wednesday evening, March 9 to provide details of an arrest and warn operators of sports bikes that speeding on the jurisdictionโ€™s roads is unacceptable.

The unseasonably warm and pleasant weather this week has resulted in more motorcycle riders on the roads.

Evans posted on his Facebook page: โ€Today around 5p.m. I was chasing two sports bikes northbound on Route 4 from David Gray Road. Port Republic, They were going 98 in the 55 mph zone. They were driving reckless, in and out of traffic and attempting to elude meโ€”lights and siren activated. I was able to force one motorcycle onto the shoulder near Adams Ribs [restaurant] with the help of two drivers, one a white box truck and another in a gray pickup. Guys, thank you for your help. The other bike was stopped by deputies on Route 4 near the [Prince Frederick Volunteer] Rescue Squad. This dangerous and possibly life-threatening behavior will not be tolerated in Calvert County. Several citations were issued and thank you to all the drivers who yielded to my emergency vehicle.โ€

The drivers who were cited have not been identified by police.
