JOSHUA-MICHAEL-STONE

HUNTINGTOWN, Md. – The saga of Joshua Michael Stone, 41, paints a chilling portrait of harassment that began with deceptive romantic gestures and escalated into threats and criminal charges. Stone, a Mechanicsville resident, now faces allegations of violating a protective order, impersonation, and later, drug-related offenses.

From Love Songs to Impersonation

The ordeal began on February 16, 2024, when Stoneโ€™s ex-partner started receiving emails from him. Initially, these messages contained YouTube links to love songs. The victim, under a court-issued protective order that barred Stone from contacting her, ignored the emails at first.

However, the harassment took a sinister turn when Stone created an email account impersonating the name of another former romantic partner of the victim. Believing these new emails might be from the other individual, the victim reached out to confirm their legitimacy. The man denied sending any such messages, revealing that Stone had fabricated the account.

Realizing the emails were from Stone, the victim responded, asking him to stop contacting her. Stone ignored her plea. Instead, he escalated the harassment, calling her directly from various phone numbers and leaving voicemails. The tone of these calls quickly turned menacing. In one voicemail, Stone referred to the victim as an โ€œungrateful [expletive]โ€ and chillingly declared, โ€œI am coming for you.โ€

Fearing for her safety, the victim reported the emails and calls to law enforcement. Officers confirmed the existence of the protective order and uncovered a troubling pattern: Stone had made approximately 30 calls from different numbers and sent numerous emails, each violating the court order. Further investigation revealed that Stone had six active warrants, including four related to previous protective order violations.

A Traffic Stop Reveals More

Months later, on November 15, 2024, Stoneโ€™s criminal behavior resurfaced during a routine traffic stop in Huntingtown, Maryland. Deputies observed Stone driving a red Nissan Altima and stopped him for following another vehicle too closely. When questioned, Stone provided the false name โ€œRobert Stone,โ€ but deputies soon identified him correctly.

During the stop, officers noticed suspicious behavior and conducted a search of Stoneโ€™s vehicle. They found a glass smoking device with apparent crack cocaine residue, copper strands used as filters, and additional crack cocaine rocks concealed in the car and in Stoneโ€™s sock. Stone was promptly arrested on charges of drug possession, possession of paraphernalia, and providing a false identity to avoid prosecution.

A Pattern of Escalation

Stoneโ€™s actions illustrate a concerning trajectory. His harassment inflicted emotional distress on his victim, violated court mandates, and culminated in persistent disregard for the law. Stone is now facing multiple charges across a spectrum of criminality as authorities seek to hold him accountable for his actions.
