On June 4, Deputy Snyder was at a residence on Budds Creek Road in Mechanicsville,ย talking with a landlord and tenant about a civil dispute when he observed Zachary Moore Welch, 21 of Lusby, standing at the edge of the driveway.ย
Welch had a fixed length baton, which he was hold to his right side and was positioned in an aggressive stance/manner towards another individual.ย It appeared to Deputy Snyder, Welch was about to assault the other individual.ย Deputy Snyder ordered Welch to drop the baton, which Welch complied.ย
Deputy Snyder arrested Welch for carrying a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.ย Search incident to the arrest revealed Welch was also carrying a fixed blade knife concealed in his pocket.
