LUSBY, Md. — A reported theft of crab meat from a Lusby grocery store turned into a broader arrest after deputies later found the suspect causing a disturbance along Olivet Road, according to charging documents.

Conrad Orlander Robinson, 44, of Lusby, is charged in Calvert County District Court with theft less than $100, disorderly conduct, resisting or interfering with arrest, intoxicated public disturbance and reckless endangerment.

According to charging documents, a deputy responded around 12:24 p.m. on May 17, 2026, to the area of Olivet Road in Lusby for an auto accident call. Emergency communications advised that the complainant was upset but said they were struck by a gray vehicle that fled the scene.

When the deputy arrived, an unknown man was seen walking up a shared driveway on Olivet Road. The man was shirtless and wearing sweatpants, gray New Balance shoes and a black skull cap, according to the report. He was later identified as Robinson.

Charging documents state Robinson was extremely irate, yelling and disorderly, and repeatedly told deputies to leave. A moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on Robinson’s breath, according to the report.

Robinson proceeded to walk into the roadway on Olivet Road. Multiple deputies attempted to get him out of the roadway for his safety and the safety of passing motorists, but he refused and continued yelling and using profanity, according to charging documents.

The report states motorists had to stop or slow down to avoid hitting Robinson as he continued walking into the middle of the road. At one point, Robinson sat on a guardrail near the 12600 block of Olivet Road.

Emergency medical personnel attempted to evaluate Robinson, but he was irate with them, refused to provide information and refused further medical services, according to charging documents.

While deputies remained on scene, they were dispatched to a reported theft at Weis Markets on Village Center Drive in Lusby. The store’s loss prevention manager reported that Robinson had stolen items from the store earlier that day.

According to charging documents, store video allegedly showed Robinson stuffing crab meat into his pants around 10:16 a.m. before leaving the store. The report states Robinson later came back into Weis Markets, removed a package of crab meat from the seafood aisle and walked around the store before approaching the front of the store with empty hands.

The estimated value of the crab meat was listed at $40.

Deputies returned to the Olivet Road area to speak with Robinson. While speaking with him, Robinson allegedly began taking his shoes off and assumed what the deputy described as an aggressive stance with balled fists.

Robinson was told he was being placed under arrest. During the arrest, charging documents state he became actively resistant, tensed his arms, pulled away and caused abrasions to the deputy’s left hand while being handcuffed.

A large chunk of asphalt was found in Robinson’s pocket during a search, according to charging documents.

Robinson was taken to CalvertHealth Medical Center for medical clearance, where he refused treatment. After being medically cleared, he was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

Charging documents state Robinson was indefinitely trespassed from the Weis Markets in Lusby and Solomons at the request of store management.

Court records show Robinson was released after posting a $1,200 unsecured personal bond.

A trial is set for July 1, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
