On January 31, 2013 at 8:11 pm, the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick received a call from concerned family members regarding the whereabouts of Amanda Lynn Foster, 27 of Lusby.ย Fosterโs family had not heard from her in several weeks and attempts to contact her by phone were unsuccessful.ย Troopers responded to her residence on San Jose Lane in Lusby to contact her and check her welfare.ย No one was at the residence, however the Troopers learned that Fosterโs truck was observed parked at a residence on HG Trueman Road in Lusby.ย Troopers responded to the residence and found Fosterโs boyfriend, John Warren Gibson, Jr. 25 of Lusby.ย Gibson advised that he had dropped Foster off at a convenience store in California, St. Maryโs County on January 30th and had not heard from her since.
Detective Rich from the Calvert Investigative Team was called to assist in the investigation.ย Based on conflicting information discovered in Gibsonโs account of recent events, he was taken to the C.I.T. offices for questioning.ย Additional CIT personnel, Sgt. Jones, Sgt. Naughton, Trooper First Class Hunt and Detective Mudd were called to assist in conducting follow up investigation.
During Gibsonโs interview, he provided information about killing Foster on January 12th during an argument at the home they were sharing on San Jose Lane.ย During the argument, Gibson stabbed Foster in the chest.ย He then placed her body in a trash can, loaded it in the victimโs truck and drove to St. Maryโs County where he hid the trash can in a wooded area south of Leonardtown.
Troopers and Deputies from CIT took Gibson to St. Maryโs County this morning where he directed them to the victimโs body.ย CIT investigators met with Troopers and Deputies from the St. Maryโs County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) at the scene.ย Fosterโs body was recovered and taken to the Medical Examinerโs Office for an autopsy.ย ย ย
