Hollywood, MD— On June 23, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kerns responded to Morgan Road in Hollywood for a reported assault.

When Kerns arrived on the scene contact was made with the victim who advised, “that her live-in boyfriend [and her] were involved in a verbal altercation over living arrangements,” according to charging documents.

The defendant was identified as Michael K. Fitzpatrick, 25 of Hollywood. Fitzpatrick allegedly assaulted the victim by grabbing her by the face and throwing her head against a wall. The victim sustained a scratch below her right eye as a result of the assault.

Fitzpatrick denied assaulting the victim and stated, “she assaulted him by throwing a soda beverage on him,” according to charging documents.

Fitzpatrick was arrested and transported to the St.Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was charged with second-degree assault. Fitzpatrick has a scheduled court date set for July 26 in District Court.

Fitzpatrick faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
