On Nov. 22 at 5 p.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Gallant Green Road in Hughesville for the report of an assault.
Investigation revealed Jose Ignacio Leon Avila, 38 of Waldorf, struck an acquaintance with a baseball bat during an argument.
Avila was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
