INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A dispute between two men in Charles County escalated into violence Wednesday, February 26, 2025, when one allegedly shot the other with a high-powered pellet gun.
Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Stump Neck Road. Investigators determined that an argument between the suspect, James Wendell Andrews, age 54 of Waldorf, and an adult male victim led to the shooting in a driveway.
EMS evaluated the victim at the scene and found he had suffered a wound to his arm. He was transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.
Officers located Andrews in the area shortly after the incident and recovered the weapon, a pellet gun believed to have caused the victim’s injuries. Authorities did not immediately disclose the extent of the victim’s condition.
Andrews was taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held without bond.
A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for March 26.
Updates will be provided as they become available.
