Man Detained at Bank for Passing Bad Checks, Forgery, Theft

On Nov. 10, at 8:36 a.m., TFC J. R. Stern responded to the PNC Bank located at 37650 Oak Station Road in Charlotte Hall for a subject being detained for passing stolen checks. 

Upon arrival, contact was made with the female employee who advised the suspect, Shawn Montgomery Beach, 52 of Hughesville, was attempting to cash stolen checks.  Beach had already cashed checks totaling over $1,400.  He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with uttering bad checks, theft under $100 and forgery. 

Beach was detained at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
