Investigation, supported by independent witnesses, confirmed that Reid was not struck by a motor vehicle.ย He was observed walking from the Circuit Court Building towards Main Street seconds before the incident.ย As a small Ford SUV lawfully traveling south passed through the area.ย Reid walked out onto southbound Main Street from between several parked cars.ย He was observed to strike the right side of the SUV with his hand/fist near the right rear portion of the truck. As the SUV driver brought his vehicle to a stop to investigate, Reid walked across Main Street, spun around in the road and gently lay down on the street. Reid was not in or near the crosswalk at any time.
Numerous diagnostic tests were completed on Reid at Calvert Memorial Hospital.ย No injuries were identified.ย Further investigation revealed that Reid had a court obligation this same morning and he was required to appear at about the same time the โcrashโ occurred.
Further investigation reaffirmed that Reid had staged this personal injury pedestrian crash.ย He will be charged with making a false report. The courts and Stateโs Attorney were notified of this incident.
