
On Sunday, Oct. 5 at approximately 5 p.m., a call went out for a heavy rescue needed on Larchmont Drive in Chesapeake Beach where a man was hanging on after going over a cliff near residence on the Chesapeake Bay.
Responders reported the man was found about 25 to 30 feet down the 100-foot cliff.
Rescue firefighters from North Beach, Dunkirk and Huntingtown were on the scene to set up the roping requirements to make the rescue of the unidentified man and the safety of the firefighter who would be going over the cliff to help him.
It took about 90 minutes from the time the call went out until crews were able to get the man up on flat land and subsequently checked out by a medical team.
It is not known if the man was transported to the hospital at this time.
