At 5:38 p.m. May 8, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Lancaster Farm Place in Rock Point for the report of a trespasser.
Investigation revealed Kenneth Leonard Millard, 43, of Washington, D.C., had been out on his boat since Sunday, when it became disabled.
Millard was able to get back to shore where he retrieved his Ford Bronco and trailer and drove it to the end of Rock Point Road, pushed open the gate and drove onto the beach area.
The Bronco became stuck and was unable to pull the boat from the water.
All attempts to pull out the vehicle were unsuccessful and as the tide came in the Bronco’s gas started to leak into the river.
The HAZMAT team responded and contained the spill.
The property was posted as “No Trespassing” and Millard will be charged at a later date. Officer D. Brady is investigating.
