Maryland State Police Barrack “T” Leonardtown Tpr. M. Johnson initiated a traffic stop on Wednesday, July 2 at 5:58 p.m. on a silver passenger car for a minor traffic infraction.ย ย 

Tpr. Johnson asked the driver, Mitch Anthony Wathen, 28, of Mechanicsville, to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.ย ย While performing the tests, Tpr. Johnson was advised that Mr. Wathen had an active warrant through Charles County.ย ย 

He was placed under arrest and CDS was located in his pocket.ย ย Mr. Wathen was transported the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack to finish Field Sobriety Testing.ย ย 

He was then transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center where he was charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, CDS: Not Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Removing the Label from a Prescription Bottle, and other traffic related offenses.ย ย 

He was held pending extradition to Charles County.ย
