Man arrested after throwing ashtray at victim

On July 31, 2015, Deputy Siciliano met with a victim who reported a domestic related assault.

The victim alleged suspect Thomas Pierce Smith, age 42, of Manassas, VA, threw a cigarette lighter striking the victim in the leg while at a residence on Hickory Hollow Lane in California.

Smith then threw a glass ashtray at the victim but missed. The ashtray hit the wall and shattered. Smith then left the home for about 15 minutes. When Smith returned the altercation continued in the kitchen. Smith struck the victim in the head with his fist then grabbed the victim by the hair.

Deputy Siciliano observed multiple injuries on the victim. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with 2nd Degree Assault.
