Michale S. Beale

Mechanicsville, MD— On March 15, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matthew Pleisse responded to Woodburn Hill Road in Mechanicsville for a reported suicidal subject who had cut himself with a knife.

When Pleisse arrived on the scene, he made contact with the complainant and the defendant who was identified as Michale S. Beale, 35 of Mechanicsville. While Pleisse and Trooper Manning of the Maryland State Police were trying to determine who the possible suicidal subject was, Manning followed Beale to his front door.

According to charging documents, “Beale advised he was going to go inside to get his identification card and then attempted to slam the door shut while Manning was standing in the frame of the door. Manning tried to prevent the door from being slammed shut, and the door smashed his left ring finger causing it to bleed just below the nail. Beale then passively resisted by stiffening his arms and not following our (officers) verbal commands to place his hands behind his back. We (officers) were eventually able to place handcuffs on Beale.”

Beale was transported to the St.Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with second-degree assault on a police officer.

At this time, Beale does not have a scheduled court date. Beale faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
