Benjamin Daniel Warring
Mechanicsville, MD— On April 17, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Elizabeth O’Connor responded to a broadcast from the local Emergency Communications Center. The broadcast was a lookout for possible drunk drivers heading southbound on Three Notch Road in the area of Oaks Road.
The witness advised the operator stumbled out of the motor vehicle at the gas pumps and urinated. O’ Connor made contact with the operator of the vehicle, who appeared to be under the influence of suspected alcohol.
Field sobriety tests were administered to the suspect, identified as Benjamin Daniel Warring, 22 of Mechanicsville. According to charging documents, “Warring advised he had drunk some beers earlier in the afternoon. Warring’s eyes were glossy and bloodshot, Warring lit up and began smoking a cigarette.”
Warring told O’Connor to ‘do what you have to do.’ O’Connor checked through the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, which revealed Warring had a ‘J’ John Alcohol License Restriction.
An operator of another car in the area advised, “that he did see Warring urinate in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station,” according to charging documents.
Warring was placed under arrest and charged with indecent exposure and driving while intoxicated.
Warring at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Warring faces a maximum jail sentence of three years and/or a maximum fine of $1,120.
