
Eric William Tayman
Lexington Park, MD— On Jan.26, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officeย Deputy Jason Smith responded to the 21000 block of Mattie Lane in Lexington Park, for the report of an assault.
The victim alleged the suspect, Eric William Tayman, 25 of Lexington Park, struck the victim with a motor vehicle.
According to charging documents, “While en route to the location, another 911 call advised an individual had been run over by a vehicle. I arrived and made contact with the victim who was visibly distraught, crying and wearing clothing woefully inadequate for the weather conditions.”ย
“The victim advised that ‘he’ had run the victim over with a vehicle. “He” was later identified as the defendant Eric Tayman,” according to charging documents.ย
“The victim advised she attempted to prevent the defendant from leaving due to him having had a lot to drink. She positioned herself in front of the vehicle, and the defendant struck her with the vehicleย then “ran her over”. The victim then changed her story to she was hit by the car then threw herself in front of it, she again recanted her story to she fell and nothing else happen,” according to charging documents.
According to charging documents, “The victim returned to the area and was cooperative with officers, he advised that he and the victim were in an argument when the victim struck the defendant in the head with a laptop.” ย
The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations.
Tayman was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
Tayman at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Tayman faces a maximum jail sentence of fifteen years and or a maximum fine of $7,500.ย
