Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3300 block of Cottman Place in Bryans Road for the report of possible drug transactions Wednesday evening.
When officers arrived, they observed a man walking away from a maroon Chevrolet Impala. Officers stopped the man, William Reece Truitte, 21, of Alexandria, Va.. Officers found a loaded 22-caliber handgun in Truitte’s front pocket. Truitte was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed dangerous weapon.
A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Two occupants of the car, James Keith Hare, 20, of Bryans Road, and Matthew Brady Smith, 18, of La Plata, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute.
Truitte, Hare and Smith are being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before a district court commissioner. Officers J. Garner and R. Boggs investigated.
