LA PLATA, MD (April 6, 2017) โ€“ Every spring, thousands of dog lovers and their families come together to celebrate all things dog at Maryland DogFest. This year, the two-day event will be held April 29-30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata, Maryland. All leashed dogs are invited to attend with their owners.

From entertainment to dog adoptions to quality, dog-related exhibitors, the 6th annual Maryland DogFest will offer something for dog lovers of all ages.

Special guest, Pit Boss Shorty Rossi, will be at Maryland DogFest on Saturday and Sunday to meet and greet fans, courtesy of the eventโ€™s title sponsor, VeRUS Pet Foods.

Rossi was the star of the popular Animal Planet reality show, Pit Boss. He is a Pit Bull rescuer and activist. Rossi is also well known for promoting breed awareness, fighting Breed Specific Legislation, fighting for animal rights, and supporting spay and neuter clinics.

“As a proud supporter of dog rescues and shelters, Maryland DogFest is honored to have Shorty Rossi as our featured guest,” said Nick Simonds, event coordinator.

Over the last five years, hundreds of dogs have been adopted at the event. Rescue, shelter, and adoption groups will be on hand in the Adoption Zone to assist individuals who are looking to add a new member to their family.

Other activities include performances by the Marvelous Mutts, an agility course, a flying disc competition, lure chasing, canine demonstrations, weight pulling, training exhibits, AKC good citizen testing, and paw painting.

The Main Stage will host a variety of family-friendly, interactive shows and contests. Events include a dog and owner look-a-like contest, Dogs Got Talent competition, doggy fashion show, training seminars, and a costume contest.

Dozens of vendors specializing in an assortment of dog-related products and services will also be at the event.

The 6th annual Maryland Dogfest is presented by VeRUS Pet Foods. The pet food company, which is headquartered in Abingdon, Maryland, puts their focus into making food with only the highest quality, nutritional ingredients.
