La Plata, MD – On October 10, 2019, the Maryland Forests Association hosted a “Why Markets Matter” program in Southern Maryland to discuss challenges and opportunities for tree farmers and the forestry industry across the region and State. Hosted at Deerhaven Timber Farm in La Plata, the program and tour covered a variety of topics including the significant economic benefits of the forestry industry in the State, recent events that have created challenges, effective management practices, and opportunities for the industry and tree farming moving forward.
