GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he attempted to rob another man while armed with a handgun that was later found to be a replica.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers were called to the 7400 block of Furnace Branch Road East around 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 for a report of an attempted robbery. Investigators said the victim told officers he had been approached by two individuals, one of whom displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money.

The victim refused to comply, and the suspects fled the scene, police said. Responding officers quickly located two individuals matching the description provided and recovered a bag containing two replica firearms.

Authorities said the suspect who brandished the weapon was identified as Robert James Scott, 24, of Glen Burnie, and was taken into custody without incident. Charges are pending against the second individual involved.

Court records show Scott faces multiple charges, including robbery, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless endangerment. He was ordered held without bond following a bail review hearing on Oct. 9 before Judge Jennifer Alexander in Glen Burnie District Court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 5 in Annapolis District Court.

Police said no injuries were reported in the incident.
