ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland continues to report declines in key COVID-19 metrics, including another record-low positivity rate, and a decline in total current hospitalizations.

Statewide Positivity Rate Is Record Low 3.54%. Maryland’s seven-day average positivity rate has dropped to 3.54%—the lowest level reported since the pandemic began, and the fifth record low reported in the past week. The daily positivity rate is 4.37%. The statewide positivity rate has been under 5% since June 25, and is now 86.8% lower than its April 17 peak.

Total Current Hospitalizations Decline, ICU Admissions Down Nearly 23% Since July 25. There are 529 total current COVID-19 hospitalizations—a decrease of 5 over the past 24 hours. There are 121 ICU beds in use—an increase of 2. Overall, ICU admissions have declined by nearly 23% since July 25.

Positivity Rates For Major Jurisdictions Continue to Decline. The positivity rates for the state’s major jurisdictions continue to decline:

• Anne Arundel (2.72%), Frederick (1.29%), and Prince George’s (5.30%) are at their lowest levels on record.

• Baltimore City (4.38%) and Baltimore County (4.21%) are at their lowest levels since late March.

• The positivity rate is above 5% in just two jurisdictions: Prince George’s (5.30%) and Queen Anne’s (5.09%).

Positivity Rate Among Marylanders Under 35 Continues to Decline, Down to 4.72%. Over the last several weeks, state health officials have focused on addressing rising infection rates among young people. The positivity rate among Marylanders under 35 has steadily declined over the last two weeks, down more than 30% since July 23. The positivity rate among Marylanders over 35 has dropped below 3%, to 2.96%.

Nearly 1.5 Million Tests Conducted, 17.7% of Population Tested. In total, Maryland has now conducted 1,485,615 COVID-19 tests, including 17,145 tests over the last 24 hours. 1,067,549 Marylanders have now been tested for COVID-19, representing 17.7% of the state’s population.
