Warrant Service – On 4/7/2020, Trooper Moorman and Trooper First Class Matthews, responded to the Lothian Firehouse, Lothian, MD, to make contact with a trooper from the Maryland State Police, Glen Burnie Barrack. Once on scene Trooper Moorman and Trooper First Class Matthews took custody of Steven Edward Justice, who had an active warrant (Violation of Probation – 2nd Degree Assault) through the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack. Chase was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and the warrant was served without incident. 

Stolen Vehicle/Vehicle Pursuit/Use of Force – On 04/8/2020, Trooper First Class Oleksak, responded to Mom and Pops Liquors, St. Leonard, for a vehicle theft report. While onscene a broadcast came out for reckless operations that fit the vehicle description that was reported stolen. Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Deputies as well as Trooper First Class Matthews, Trooper First Class Whitman, Trooper Brown, and Trooper Moorman responded to the general area in an attempt to locate the vehicle. Trooper First Class Matthews located the vehicle in question and activated his emergency equipment lights northbound on Mackall Road. The vehicle did not acknowledge his emergency equipment and accelerated onto Broomes Island Road. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle continued Westbound on Broomes Island Road back towards the location of Mom & Pops Liquor, St. Leonard. The vehicle abruptly entered the driveway behind the Mom and Pops Liquor, Trooper First Class Oleksak, Trooper First Class Matthews, and Trooper First Class Whitman apprehended the juvenile suspect in a downstairs room as the juvenile pretended to sleep. The juvenile resisted slightly as he was being handcuffed. There are no injuries to the juvenile or any responding police units. The stolen vehicle was returned to the victim on the scene with no damage. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack where he was charged and released to his father’s custody.

DUI/CDS Arrest/Firearm Seizure – On 04/10/2020, Trooper First Class Stull conducted a routine traffic stop on Rousby Hall Road, in the area of Clubhouse Drive, Lusby, for traffic violations. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle, CDS- Not Marijuana was located in the vehicle and a Winchester 60A, 22 caliber rifle. The driver was identified as Lance Craig Latham 2nd. Latham was shown to be prohibited from possessing all firearms. Latham was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI, CDS-not marijuana, and possessing a firearm. Latham was transported to the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederck Barrack for processing prior to being incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center. All CDS and firearms were packaged and processed at the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack.

Warrant Service – On 4/12/2020, Trooper White, responded to Patuxent Plaza, Solomons, MD, to make contact with a trooper from the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. Once on scene Trooper White took custody of Santo Alberto Chase, who had an active warrant (FTA – Driving Uninsured Vehicle) through the Maryland State Police, Prince Frederick Barrack. Chase was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and the warrant was served without incident.
