
LA PLATA, Md. — University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center welcomed its first baby of 2025 with the early morning arrival of Angel Santiago Morales Flores, born at 8:11 a.m. on Jan. 1. The Flores-Morales family celebrated the new year with joy as they welcomed their newest addition.
“We are delighted to introduce Angel Santiago Morales Flores,” UM Charles Regional shared on Facebook. “Born at 8:11 a.m. on January 1, 2025, at UM Charles Regional Medical Center, Angel is the first baby of the New Year! Weighing in at 8 lbs, 15 oz, he joins proud parents Rosa Flores and Melvin Morales, along with big brother Mateo, 5.”
As one of the first members of Generation Beta, Angel represents a new chapter for Southern Maryland and beyond. This emerging generation, born starting in 2025, is set to grow up in a world shaped by cutting-edge technology, global connectivity, and rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Generation Beta is anticipated to lead the way in innovation and reimagining how communities interact and thrive.
