
MILLERSVILLE, Md. — A Millersville man was arrested after police responded to a reported disturbance involving a firearm on March 4, 2026.
Officers with the Eastern District responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Crucible Court for a report of a verbal altercation involving a weapon.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, later identified as Ryan Lee Okamoto, 44, of Millersville, armed with a .45 caliber handgun and engaged in a verbal confrontation with an adult male.
Police reported that officers were able to safely take Okamoto into custody without incident.
An investigation determined that prior to police arriving, the suspect had pressed the handgun against the victim during the altercation. Officers recovered the firearm at the scene.
Okamoto was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, carrying a loaded handgun on his person, and wearing a handgun while under the influence.
Court records show Okamoto was ordered held without bond following a bail review hearing.
A hearing is set for April 1, 2026 in Anne Arundel District Court in Annapolis.
