Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative is in the process of restoring power to 1,658 customers from eight outages in the Golden Beach-Mechanicsville area soon.
According to SMECO spokesperson Tom Dennison, there is an issue at the Golden Beach substation.
Crews are on the scene and Dennison said he anticipated customers would be restored shortly.
He added that crews are switching power to restore certain sections of the outages which ranges from just across Route 5 in New Market and most of Golden Beach is affected.
