
MSGT Douglas Garwood Harrison, Jr., USAF, (Ret.), 85 of Lexington Park, MD (formerly of Frederick, MD) passed away at his home on April 29, 2026, with his family at his side.
He was born on January 3, 1941 and raised in Frederick, MD to the late Garwood Harrison and Thelma Wallace Harrison. He is a 1959 graduate of Frederick High School.
Upon graduating high school Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 28 dedicated years until his retirement on January 3, 2001. During his service he worked on the F-17โs and was in the Vietnam War. He received numerous medals, citations, and accommodations. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he continued his career working as a Civil Servant for the Department of Defense, working directly with the specifications of the F-17โs, ensuring they were flight ready, eventually becoming an inspector before his retirement.
Doug returned to his beloved hometown of Frederick after retiring from the USAF and back to both the Independence Hose Company (Company 1) and Citizens Truck Company (Company 4) where he and his brother began as volunteer firefighters as teenagers. They both continued this service, and he became a life member of the Frederick County fire community. He was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. His hobbies included collecting stamps and coins, researching the Civil War, and researching his family genealogy dating back to the 1600โs. He absolutely loved his pet cocker spaniels.
Doug is survived by his children, Lisa L. Harrison (Steve Holt) of Lexington Park, MD and Andrew Harrison (Theresa) of Mechanicsville, MD; brother, Warren โHarryโ Harrison (Pam) of Fernandina, FL; sister, Grace โEllenโ Krutchley of Frederick, MD; grandsons, Bryce Lee Duehring of Chaptico, MD and Landon Walker Craig of Lexington Park, MD; nephews, Kyle Krutchley and Kenny Krutchley; and many more extended family members and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local animal shelter/ASPCA, Fire Association, or Veterans Charity/Wounded Warrior Project on behalf of Doug.
All Services will be private.
