Drug Arrest – On Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 12:20am, TFC K. D. Lashley responded to a broadcast for a suspicious vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 249 in Callaway. Upon arrival, contact was made with an occupant of the vehicle, who advised the vehicle had run out of gasoline and he was waiting for another subject to return to the scene with fuel. The subject was identified as John Robert Townshend, 52, of California. A query of Mr. Townshend through METERS/NCIC revealed that Mr. Townshend was wanted for Theft by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. An attempted to detain Mr. Townshend resulted in a short foot pursuit when Mr. Townshend attempted to flee the scene on foot. Once apprehended a search incident to arrest revealed that Mr. Townshend was in possession of CDS. Mr. Townshend was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (1182005881)
Theft Under $1000.00 – On Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 6:00pm, TFC A. J. Malaspina and TFC J. S. Gibson responded to the Kohl’s Department Store in the 22000 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park for a reported shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, two subjects were identified and prevented from leaving the establishment. Contact was made with a male complainant, 22, of Lusby who advised he observed the two subjects and a few others attempting to conceal merchandise on them. Additional subjects involved in the theft were also located and directed to the Loss Prevention office. Inventory of the items in the possession of the subjects revealed that thefts had been committed at multiple retail establishments within the area. Four female juveniles, between 12 and 13 years of age, from California and Great Mills and one male juvenile, 13, of Great Mills where charged with Theft Under $1000.00. All juveniles were released to guardians pending further action by Juvenile Services and all merchandise was returned to the appropriate location. (1182005956)
