Sheriff Mike Evans would like to remind the citizens of Calvert County of the new law affecting moped and motor scooter drivers that takes effect October 1 of this year. The law encompasses three components; mandatory titling with a decal, mandatory insurance and mandatory helmet use.
Drivers who violate the new law will be issued warning tickets and/or traffic citations for violations. Sheriff Evans states “This new law is in effect to protect the drivers and passengers of mopeds and motor scooters and members of law enforcement hope that the public will adhere to it for their own safety and the safety of other vehicles on the road.”
