PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A new Independence Day tradition is taking shape in Calvert County, and neighbors from across the region are invited. The Star Spangled Spectacular, a free, family-friendly celebration, will make its debut on Thursday, July 3, at the Calvert County Fairgrounds, located at 140 Calvert Fair Drive, Prince Frederick, Maryland. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Hosted by the Calvert County Fair in partnership with Star Spangled Calvert, the event promises an evening full of music, food, laughter and community spirit, all capped by a spectacular fireworks show after 9 p.m. Families, friends and visitors alike are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and gather for a night of shared celebration.

Children can enjoy pony rides, inflatables, face painting and airbrush tattoos, while adults browse local vendors, artisans and food trucks offering hometown favorites. It’s a chance to enjoy old-fashioned summer fun with a modern twist — right in the heart of Calvert County.

Guests are welcome to bring chairs or blankets for seating. Please note that tents, umbrellas, outside food or drinks, and pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.

Local Favorites to Headline Star Spangled Spectacular Entertainment Stage

The evening will feature live performances by two of Southern Maryland’s favorite acts — Ryan Forrester and John Luskey — bringing high-energy country and rock tunes to the fairgrounds stage. Both artists are known for their crowd-pleasing sets and strong community followings. Music kicks off when gates open at 4 p.m., and entry is free.

If rain is in the forecast, the event will be rescheduled to Sunday, July 6. Organizers will post any weather-related updates online.

Prohibited items include weapons, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, drones, fireworks, large bags, bullhorns and other items deemed a safety concern. On-site security and local law enforcement will enforce event rules.
