At approximately 6:39 pm, on March 3, Trooper J. Wiersma was traveling northbound route 5, north of route 488 when he observed a brown Chrylser Le Baron bearing MD registration plates 7CGN79, traveling in front of him, at a pace of 62 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour speed zone.ย

Trooper Wiersma called the vehicle information in to the dispatcher, while waiting for the information to come back, the vehicle made an abrupt right turn onto Meadowbrook Lane.ย  The vehicleโ€™s lights were shut off and Troop Wiersma observed the driver and passenger switch positions.ย

Trooper Wiersma initiated a traffic stop to the front of the vehicle and made contact with the driver who was identified by her Maryland ID as Tomeka Rosha Washington, who was seated in the right front passenger seat.ย  When asked why switching positions, she stated, she didnโ€™t have a license and knew Troop Wiersma was following them.ย

Upon contact with the occupants, Trooper Wiersma smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.ย  When asked about the marijuana, Antoinette Tyreca Douglas, 22 years of Suitland, stated the owner of the car smokes weed all of the time in here.ย  Trooper Wiersma asked them if there was any knowledge of marijuana in the vehicle.ย  Douglas stated โ€œI have a little 10 dollar bag of weed in my purse.โ€ย  Douglas reached for it and revealed to Troop Wiersma a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana.ย

Douglas was arrested and transported to the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review.ย  Douglas was charged with the following:ย  Possession of marijuana possession of paraphernalia.ย
