CLEMENTS, Md. — We are receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle accident this morning that had one person flown out.

At approximately 6:05 a.m. on August 7, first responders were alerted to an accident in the 23000 block of Budds Creek Road, in the area of Bayside Road. Initial reports indicated that a lone vehicle had struck a pole and that the driver was still inside.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a single vehicle off the road. Citizens in the area had stopped to help the driver out of the vehicle, but when one called 911 they informed them that the occupant had been bouncing between being conscious and unconscious.

EMS on the scene would soon after determine that the vehicle driver needed to be transported by helicopter to a nearby trauma center for their injuries. Maryland State Police Aviation would make the transport.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the incident.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
