In the recent gang beating by the Iron Horseman at Toots Bar in Hollywood, one of the suspected participants, James Michael Arrington, recently got out of prison for a similar assault he participated in back in 1997.

The victim in that brutal assault died.

In 1998, Arrington was sentenced to 10 years in prison with three suspended for his role in an attack on a man outside the Mousetrap in Mechanicsville.

Paul David Herrington, of Mechanicsville, died of a brain aneurysm after being beaten with police-style flashlights after a biker rally in June 1997.

A co-defendant, Herbert Williams Jr., was also convicted of second-degree assault and given 10 years.

Charges of first-degree murder were thrown out against the two men by a St. Maryโ€™s County judge, who rules there was not enough evidence to convict.

Police say the brutal beating of a man Friday at Tootโ€™s was the handiwork of members of the Iron Horsemen gang.

On Friday night, St. Mary’s County patrol officers responded to Tootโ€™s Bar in Hollywood, for the reported assault.

Upon arrival Officers found the victim, John Daniel McGraw, of Cobb Island, suffering from wounds to the face, head and a laceration to the arm.

The injuries were caused by McGraw being struck with fists, bottles and padlocks.

His injuries required medical attention and he was transported to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital.

Prior to being removed by ambulance, McGraw was able to identify three suspects, two of which were on the scene.

Douglas William Gardiner Sr., 45 of Waldorf, and James Michael Arrington, 44 of Prince Frederick, were immediately arrest.

A third unnamed suspect fled the scene and additional charges will be filed.

All of the suspects are members of the Iron Horsemen Motorcycle Club.
