Lothian, MD – On Tuesday, June 6, at approximately 3:44 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police Department officers responded to a crash on (Old) Southern Maryland Boulevard near Sands Road in Lothian. Investigation showed that a Honda Civic was northbound on (Old) Southern Maryland Boulevard just south of Sands Road when it crossed into the southbound lane. As a result, the Honda struck a southbound Chevrolet Express van nearly head-on. The driver of the Hondaโ€”identified as Stephanie Michelle Musser, 18 of Lothianโ€”was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The Chevrolet driverโ€”identified as Richard Douglas Casey, 57 of Chesapeake Beach, was flown to Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital Center with serious injuries.

The primary cause of the crash is the Honda driverโ€™s failure to drive right of center. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation.

Owings, MD- A reported motor vehicle crash on Maryland Route 4 at Sands Road. Units are reporting one person was ejected.ย
