MARBURY, Md. — Feathered fan favorites at Smallwood State Park have added another fluffball to the nest, with a second osprey chick hatching on the afternoon of May 8, 2025.
The growing osprey family is once again under the watchful eye of a live-streaming webcam, installed in 2021 to give viewers a front-row seat to the annual nesting cycle. This year’s pair laid three eggs, with the first hatching on May 6 and the second just two days later. The final egg remains intact—for now.
Since the camera’s debut, the platform has seen steady success: two chicks fledged in 2022, followed by three in both 2023 and 2024. Now, nature lovers from across Maryland and beyond are tuning in to see whether this season will match or exceed those numbers.
Streaming 24/7 on YouTube, the osprey cam has turned the serene setting of Smallwood State Park into an online hub of seasonal excitement. From fuzzy hatchlings to the first daring flights, every moment is captured in real time.
