UPDATE 1/02/18 4:00 p.m. –ย On January 2, 2017, school staff at the Spring Ridge Middle School located at 19856 Three Notch Rd. Lexington Park, MD were alerted to a child not feeling well after ingesting food they brought from home.ย  It was later determined the child had shared the food with four friends during the morning and several children were also not feeling well.ย 

School authorities immediately notified the School Resource Officer (SRO) from the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office and EMS personnel were called to treat the children.ย  The children were transported to MedStar St. Maryโ€™s Hospital for treatment and evaluation.ย  Investigation by the SRO and St. Maryโ€™s County Vice/Narcotics Detectives revealed the edible food items may have contained THC/CBG which is derived from marijuana plants.

St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Vice/Narcotics Detectives, Child Protective Services and school officials are continuing the investigation.ย  All children have been treated and released to their guardians.


UPDATE 1/02/18 9:27 a.m. – Two additional overdoses have been reported at Spring Ridge Middle School. Crews are on scene and assisting the patients.ย 


LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – On January 2 at 8:50 a.m., crews responded to reports of an overdose located at Spring Ride Middle School of Lexington Park. Unconfirmed reports say that a 14-year-old male ingested an unknown substance given to him by another student. One subject is reported to be in transport to a nearby medical center.
