LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Firefighters quickly knocked down a kitchen fire inside a Leonardtown home early Friday after it sent smoke pouring from the front door.
Crews were dispatched at 12:12 a.m., Nov. 21, 2025, to the 40700 block of Merlin Way for a reported house fire. They arrived to find a two-story single-family home with smoke showing and located an active fire in the kitchen during a walk-around of the property.
The sole occupant met firefighters outside and reported that everyone inside the home had already made it out and was accounted for, officials said.
Firefighters advanced a hose line into the home and brought the blaze under control in short order. Additional crews checked for any fire extension, opened up walls and ceilings as needed and then ventilated the structure.
Units from Leonardtown and Hollywood operated on scene for about an hour, performing ventilation and minor overhaul before clearing the call.
