LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Emergency crews from the Leonardtown Fire Department responded Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at approximately 9:30 p.m. to a report of a vehicle overturned near St. Francis Xavier Church on Newtowne Neck Road.

Initial information indicated the vehicle had flipped and was pinging farther into the park area, prompting an advanced life support response. Numerous emergency units were dispatched.

The department confirmed a single vehicle overturned off the roadway with two trapped occupants. They stabilized the vehicle and began extrication operations.

Both occupants were successfully extracted and then turned over to EMS for evaluation. One patient declined transport, and the second was taken to a local hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by authorities.
