Lunch in Pertosa: After a fabulous USO bus tour of the mysterious Angel Caves of Pertosa (about 2 hours east of Naples towards Salerno), our group stopped for lunch at Villa Rosa’s. The tables were all set for the 50 folks in our group and each table was topped by a basket of pane (bread) a pitcher of red wine, soda, and water.
We were served a Primo Piatti (first plate) with a huge helping of lasagne – obviously homemade right there at the restaurant โ with grated parmesan cheese (not from a shaker but from a bowl with a spoon) on the side. We were offered extra spaghetti plates which had been prepared for the children. Thinking lunch was over, we were then served Piatti Secondo (a second plate) – rolled sausage and lettuce!.
And then came dessert – an orange pastry treat! Lunch lasted a good 1 and 1/2 hours with everyone socializing and enjoying the wine. Then, we were all back on the bus for Naples. Wednesday, there’s an MRW trip and lunch to Vietri Sul Mare – right on the Amalfi Coast!
