BEL ALTON, Md. — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday night, April 28, 2026, at the intersection of Crain Highway and Fairground Road in Bel Alton, prompting a medevac response.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 11:35 p.m. for a reported crash involving a pedestrian or bicyclist. When first responders arrived, they located an adult patient suffering from significant injuries.

Initial reports indicate the victim sustained serious trauma, including a head injury, and was thrown a substantial distance upon impact.

Due to the severity of the injuries, a medevac was requested. Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 responded to the scene and airlifted the patient to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for further treatment.

Multiple fire and EMS units responded and remained on scene while emergency operations were underway.

The incident remains under investigation.
