PHILADELPHIA – According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, over 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide each year. Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet food, treats, toys and accessories, will hold a Thanks for Giving collection drive throughout the month of November to raise awareness of and collect food and supplies for local shelters and rescues that serve these animals. Customers are encouraged to make monetary donations either in store or via PayPal and to drop off food and supplies for pets at their local Pet Valu stores.
“Shelters are desperately in need of pet supplies and food throughout the year, and it’s important to not forget them during the busy holiday months,” said Joe Dent, vice president and U.S. general manager for Pet Valu. “We’re hopeful this collection drive will stock their shelves and carry them through to the new year.”
