Brandywine, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is working to determine the circumstances of a fatal crash Tuesday night, March 26 in Brandywine. The deceased driver is 39-year-old Garfield Manning of Brandywine.

On March 26, at approximately 9:55 p.m., patrol officers were called to Brandywine Road and Gibbons Church Road for collision involving two vehicles. Manning was pronounced dead on the scene. The second driver suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation reveals Manning was heading southbound on Brandywine Road, when for reasons that are under investigation, he lost control of his car and entered the northbound lanes where he struck another car.

Investigators have also learned that Manning had been involved in a prior collision with another vehicle resulting in minor damage minutes before the fatal crash on Brandywine Road. The earlier collision was in a parking lot in the 700 block of Matapeake Business Drive. Investigators are looking into whether the earlier collision played any role in the fatal crash on Brandywine Road.
