UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced today that 19-year-old Tyrek Bryant has been convicted of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to commit attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and carrying a loaded handgun on person related to the murder of 18-year-old Zakaryah Link.
Co-defendant 18-year-old Chauncey Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
In July 2025, Bryant and co-defendant 18-year-old Chauncey Jones attempted to rob Link at Suitland Metro Station and shot him multiple times.
Jones is scheduled for sentencing on November 19, 2026. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Bryant is scheduled for sentencing on Wednesday, December 2, 2026. He faces a maximum penalty of 110 years in prison.
