BALTIMORE — Marylanders, grab your napkins and appetite — the road trip to Philadelphia for an authentic cheesesteak is officially over. Geno’s Steaks, the legendary South Philly shop famous for its sizzling rib-eye sandwiches and neon glow, is bringing its first Maryland location to Power Plant Live! in downtown Baltimore.
The new spot — expected to open in early 2026 — will serve the same melt-in-your-mouth cheesesteaks that have made Geno’s a Philadelphia landmark since 1966. That means hot rib-eye steak piled high on a fresh-baked roll, your choice of cheese (Wiz, provolone or American), and the all-important “wit or wit-out” onions.
Geno’s expansion south to 10 Market Place in downtown Baltimore marks its only current venture beyond Pennsylvania, following the 2024 closure of its short-lived New Jersey location inside FoodieHall, a virtual food court in Cherry Hill, and food lovers are excited.
The Baltimore shop will feature window-service ordering, kiosks and a casual bar setup — perfect for lunch, dinner or a post-concert bite at the downtown entertainment hub.
Geno’s Growing Footprint
Founded in 1966 on Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia, Geno’s Steaks quickly became one of the city’s most iconic cheesesteak shops — and a longtime rival to Pat’s, located just across the street at Ninth Street and Passyunk Avenue. Originally run by Joey Vento until his death in 2011, the shop is now operated by his son, Geno, for whom the restaurant is named.
In addition to its flagship location, Geno’s has expanded to include a shop inside the Xfinity Live! entertainment complex near the city’s stadiums, and most recently, a new location inside the 10th Street Market at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. The brand previously operated a stand inside Citizens Bank Park from 2004 to 2006 and inside Foodie Hall in New Jersey 2023-2024.
What’s Next
The exact opening date hasn’t been announced, but the company says it’s “coming soon.” More details — including special events or grand-opening offers — are expected in the coming months.
Geno’s Steaks will be located at 10 Market Place in downtown Baltimore. Power Plant Live! brings together premier dining, entertainment and nightlife in downtown Baltimore, with live performances, events and venues in a dynamic space perfect for locals and visitors alike.
