Prince Frederick, MD – The Calvert County Child Advocacy Center staff was joined by State’s Attorney personnel, law enforcement personnel, elected officials, and community partners to plant the first “Pinwheels for Prevention” for National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Detective Weems and Detective Rector, two of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Detectives who specialize in Child Abuse investigations, were present with the other community partners.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and families.
During the month of April and throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness and provide education and support to families through resources and strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect.
The pinwheel is a happy and uplifting token of childhood. It stands as a symbol of hope and the bright futures we want for the children of Calvert County.
