Calvert County police have reportedly located the body of a man who went off the dock at Hallowing Point Boat Ramp in Prince Frederick June 5.
The body of William Thompson, 51, of Charles County came ashore Saturday in the area of Leitches Wharf Road in Prince Frederick. Police say fingerprints obtained from the body were compared to those belonging to Thompson by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The fingerprints confirmed that the body recovered from the water was Thompson’s.
Thompson went missing June 5 when police say he jumped off the dock next to the boat ramp to swim. Thompson could not be located in the water, and his two relatives called police.
The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department Rescue/Dive Team, the Benedict Rescue Squad and members of DNR responded to the scene to assist in the search for Thompson. The following Wednesday the search continued with the assistance of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Dive Team. The search effort results were negative.
