CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Residents have until 4:30 p.m. on April 4 to submit public comments or register to speak regarding two proposed development projects in Waldorf. The Charles County Planning Commission will hear feedback during the public comments section of its April 7 meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
1. South Park West Development
The South Park West proposal is a conceptual mixed-use development planned for the northwest corner of Billingsley Road and U.S. Route 301 (Crain Highway). While the Planning Commission will not vote on the conceptual subdivision plan at this stage, the meeting provides an opportunity for community input.
Residents of nearby neighborhoods — including Westchester, Dorchester, Southwinds, Dorchester Mews, Waldorf Manor, Sunridge, Dorchester Greens, Hunters Run and Aspen Woods — are encouraged to review the project documents and participate in the public comment process. See if your property is listed here.
Supporting materials, including the full conceptual plan, adjacent property listings and maps, are available for public review. The county has also provided a letter of notification outlining key project details.

2. Lake Acton Business Park Proposal
The Lake Acton Business Park subdivision plan is requesting approval of a new preliminary subdivision plan. Lake Acton Business Park includes approximately 106 acres on the western side of Mattawoman Beantown Road (MD Route 5), directly north of the Mattawoman Beantown Road Park and Ride station in Waldorf.
The plan proposes seven commercial lots for uses such as a convenience store, gas station, retail and flexible commercial space. A previous conceptual plan for this project was presented to the Planning Commission in April 2022.
How to Submit Comments or Register to Speak
Residents must use the county’s online webform to submit comments or sign up to speak during the meeting. All submissions must be received by 4:30 p.m. on April 4 to be considered by the Planning Commission.
Meeting Details
The Planning Commission meeting will be held in person at the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata. It will also be broadcast live on CCGTV (Comcast channel 95, Verizon Fios channel 10) and streamed online, offering multiple ways for the public to participate.
