Calvert County women will raise their glasses and toast to the good health and empowerment of women and children in our community, a cause near and dear to the hearts of United Way of Calvert County’s Women’s Initiative. Grapes & Gals, the initiative’s signature annual event, is a wine-tasting affair where women can relax and enjoy the company of other caring women like them.
This year Grapes & Gals will be poolside at the lovely home of Mary Orrechio, a very gracious Women’s Initiative member, on July 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. There, attendees will enjoy a sampling of Cove Point Winery’s finest red, white and fruit wines, alongside a beautiful summer spread of hors d’oeuvres by Maryland Country Caterers. Event tickets are $35 per person, and the initiative is encouraging all guests to bring a bag of non-perishable items and/or toiletries, which will support much-needed local United Way programs focused on improving the lives of Calvert County women and children.
The mission of the Women’s Initiative is to engage caring women leaders to measurably improve the quality of life for Calvert County women, children and families through the investment of their time, talent and treasure. Proceeds from this event will go toward the initiative’s annual Mini-Grant process, which supports programs that strengthen women and children in our community.
