Randall Wood Steenrod, 80, of Lexington Park, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2026. Born on August 1, 1945, in Sidney, Ohio, he was the son of the late Roland Gerdes Steenrod and Anabel Marie Wood.
Randall had been a resident of Lexington Park for 60 years and was well known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and love of conversation. Helping others was his passion, and he was truly a stranger to no one. Whether speaking with family, friends, or someone he had just met, Randall treasured meaningful conversations that often stretched late into the night, frequently accompanied by a midnight snack. He also found great joy in listening to hymns and spending time cutting firewood, one of his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki A. Steenrod, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage; his children, Amy Marie Bowie (James) of La Plata, Maryland, Naomi Rebecca Ruckman of Hoven, South Dakota, Hannah L. Holmes (Kevin) of Portageville, New York, Joel B. Steenrod (Jessica) of Tall Timbers, Maryland, and David C. Gilmore (Annette) of Lexington, North Carolina. He was the proud grandfather of 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lydia Steenrod.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Conner of Patuxent Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Charles Memorial Gardens.
